Dis-Chem Pharmacies’ in Midrand has an opportunity available for an ESG Manager to join the team. The purpose of this role is to be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring the environment, social and corporate governance policies and procedures. Responsible for continual evaluation and maintenance of the ESG materiality matrix to ensure that priorities are appropriate for the effective management of the ESG systems

Minimum Requirements…

Essential:

  • Grade 12 – Matric or a Senior Certificate
  • Degree in Environmental Science / Social Science Management / Project Management or related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in ESG management or sustainable development related field.
  • Experience in developing and implementing ESG policies, frameworks and practices.


Essential:

  • Post graduate studies in the Sustainable Development or related field.

Job Specification…ESG Operations Management:

  • Assess the state of ESG materiality baseline including peer benchmarking
  • Assess and maintain the ESG Materiality Matrix
  • Setting of ESG goals and creating key performance indicators to measure performance
  • Development and maintenance of the ESG strategic goals, roadmap and annual reporting
  • Develop and implement ESG policies and procedures that support the ESG framework
  • Provide training and raise awareness of key individuals with regards to our ESG strategy and implementation
  • Assess the ESG rating from rating agencies to determine the gaps and implement appropriate controls
    to support ESG strategy
  • Lead the development of the ESG risk framework
  • Plan for and coordinate non-financial assurance process

Regulatory Compliance:

  • Monitor ESG regulatory and standards developments and implement initiatives to ensure compliance
  • Staying updated on emerging ESG trends, best practices, and regulatory developments to drive continuous improvement and innovation.

Reporting and Administration:

  • Support in the preparation of ESG-related Board and Committee materials and reports, as well as support the communications narrative and content for the Group’s ESG activities
  • Develop and lead ESG disclosures and reporting

Stakeholder Liaison:

  • Actively liaise with different business functions (internal and external stakeholders) to develop ESG goals, create metrics to measure performance and implement process and policy improvements
  • Partner with external consultants and organizations to develop and implement ESG initiatives.

Team Management:

  • Assess and manage the team to continually improve processes and outcomes.
  • Promote a robust culture of accountability, innovation, and performance management across the team, whilst modelling the company’s values.
  • Train and guide team members on initiatives and/or campaigns to ensure successful implementation best practices and strategies.
  • Assist in setting objectives for the team and tracking progress.
  • Assist in facilitating the creation of accountable, full-service teams who understand and strive to meet the needs of all stakeholders.

General:

  • Adhere to Dis-Chem Policies and Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Adhere to Health and Safety rules and regulations.

  • Effectively communication ESG strategies and performance to stakeholders.

  • Adaptability and resilience to navigate complex and evolving sustainability challenges. Generates ideas for improvement, takes advantage of opportunities, suggests innovations.

  • Manages staff in ways that improve their ability to succeed on the job.
  • Computer skills – Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, MS Project).
